Travelling to Howfield

Howfield Manor Hotel can be found on the A28 about two miles south west of Canterbury going towards Ashford, on the corner of Howfield Lane which leads to the village of Chartham Hatch. It is easily accessible from the motorway network without having to go through the centre of Canterbury.

By Rail
Chartham is the nearest railway station, but both Canterbury East and Canterbury West main line stations are approximately two miles from the hotel.

By Bus
652 from Canterbury and Ashford run along the A28. Please ask the driver for the nearest stop, as there is not one very close to the hotel.
28 to Thanington from Canterbury. Thanington is a ten minute walk from the hotel.

By Bicycle

From Canterbury
Follow signs for A28 Ashford. Drive through Wincheap crossing the A2 near Morrisons, and continue through Thanington. At the roundabout take the last exit to continue on the A28. Immediately after the roundabout you will go over the river and the railway, then the road bends around to the left. You will see a Howfield Manor sign in the trees on your right hand side and Howfield Lane is the first turning on the right. Turn into Howfield Lane (signposted to Chartham Hatch) and the entrance to the hotel is about 100m on your right.

From Ashford and the M20
At Chilham, the A28 joins the A252 heading towards Canterbury. Go past Chartham on your right and continue towards Canterbury. When you see a number of stores and dealerships, including the Wyevale Garden Centre, the Volvo dealership and Brownhills Campervans, slow down and prepare to turn left into Howfield Lane, signposted to Chartham Hatch. Howfield Manor is about 100m on your right.

From the M2 and A2 from London
You cannot join the A28 from the A2 coming from the north west (Faversham, London), although it might look as if you can on a map. On the A2 after Dunkirk and the Holiday Inn, take signs for Upper Harbledown and Chartham Hatch. Turn right as soon as you can to go back over the A2 (the sign has the name of Chartham Hatch in a strange place so it does not look as if you have to turn right, but you do!) Going back towards Faversham on the A2, turn left into Howfield Lane just before the slip road to the services and Dunkirk. Go through the village of Chartham Hatch. Howfield Manor is approx 1 mile past the village on the left hand side, just before Howfield Lane joins the A28.
