Community support

In 2010 our charity is Cruse, who support people who have been bereaved.  In August Cruse held a successful and enjoyable fun day at the hotel which raised £2,000 for Cruse.

Howfield Manor Hotel supported the Pilgrims Hospices in Canterbury in 2009. The Pilgrims Hospices charity was suggested by Mr Alan Joyce, of Dunkirk a long-time supporter of the Hospices.  Coincidentally Mr Joyce was born in a cottage just a few hundred yards from Howfield and his parents worked on Howfield Farm and in the Manor in the early part of the last century.  He is seen here presenting the cheque to Susan Booth from the Pilgrims Hospices. 

Pilgrims Hospices is an independent registered charity and  is the principal provider of specialist palliative care in East Kent. The hospices care for patients with a range of life limiting illnesses including cancer, heart failure, respiratory conditions and neurological diseases.  Pilgrims Hospices provide a range of support services for patients, their families and carers, and aim to raise £7.5 million each year to run their hospices  in Canterbury, Ashford and Thanet, which is the equivalent of £18,000 per day to run all three sites.
